I live in Scotland and am looking to install an outdoor arena roughly 45m x 25m. Has any one had any experience with cost and also planning when building an arena?

We have just built a small turnout area/arena.
Cost is a minimum. Everything done by hand.
We already had a hardcore surface and we were advised just to put wood fibre on top of this 8 inches deep. That cost 1.5k.
Had to use wood fibre due to restricted access and it worked out the best cost wise to get brought round in a skip lorry.
Fencing probably another 1k I would reckon.

Then hours of raking, moving, rolling and looking like wood fibre.
It's around 20x30m... Ish having actually measured it properly yet.

We jsut waiting on our planning going through

We got various quotes for a 20x40 all around the 20-30k mark depending on surface. Make certain whoever you use, go and visit at least three of their arenas and also go to see one that been in for a good number of years. There are cowboys are out there who talk a good talk so go visit and speak to previous customers

I would be wary of trying to economise on drainage as there are lots of arenas in Scotland which are not useable in winter, and most of these have some sort of wood finish, probably just forest clippings.
