Hi there, wonder if anyone can help? I am looking to add a 12x12 stable plus a 8x12 storeroom to my other 2 stables (which I think is selfbuilt from wood about 20 years ago!) but was wondering what would be the most cost efficient way to do this? Should I just buy one from a manufacturer or would it be cheaper to make one? Is wood or brick better - someone has even said breeze block? Can anyone give me an idea? My husbands quite talented at the old diy so I am sure he could do it but would like to hear whether it is actually more cost effective to just get a ready made one! I have checked with my planning office and they have said we dont need planning permission. Any help appreciated....

We saved money by ordering a stable from our local supplier -Oakley Stables - and we collected it and put it together ourselves, we saved quite a bit of money. We calculated that we could not have bought the wood ourselves any cheaper.

ready made likely to be cheaper, they can get the raw materials in bulk far cheaper than ordinary peeps and have all the patterns and machines made up. If you get a basic one you can then do extra bits on it yourself if you want eg additional kickboarding
