Building topline - using straights?

Is not the best way to build topline, correct excercise?

Is the ideal topline not muscle, formed with corrct work.
Admittedly backed up by a correct diet.

Just to say a big thanks to everyone who has posted since I last checked, I didn't get on over the weekend. But anyway, your comments were appreciated (I shut my ears to the 'correct work' one this time!

Hi Bounty

Glad to hear that R is doing so well that you need to increase his feed now! I shall add one last thought, I tried the outshine with my own boy, who as you know needs topline ASAP and I havent found a difference. He is already on ground linseed and fenugreek which does make a difference to muscle development, but like you I need him to have a bit more without going loopy.

He seemed to eat the Outshine though (he isnt fussy at all) but I thought it did have an odd smell so maybe R might not like it if he is fussy? I am going to use Spillers conditioning cubes to get some weight onto him which I can turn into muscle. On the whole, I do not like feeding mixes.

Oh, and he did not like the equi ami one bit! I managed to get him to walk but as soon as I asked for trot I got both back feet in my face. Think I was much better off lunging him with a bungie rein - at least I managed to get him to WTC on both reins inbetween the rearing and the kicking. We are back to riding now (so much safer)!

Hey hun!

Have you tried another brand of Alfalfa? Mine MUCH prefer D&H Alfalfa to Dengie's Alfa-A.

I have found a HUGE difference with feeding outshine, but I feed a fair amount of it, but then I do get it at a greatly reduced price, thanks to a friend who can buy sacks for less than I pay for a sack of whole oats!!

Also, during a convo with a nutritionalist from a leading brand, I discovered that stud balancers are essentially the same as the other balancers on the market, but as they are not aimed at the "one horse owner, pony patter" market, they are not as expensive, as studs simply won't pay!!!
