My lurcher was attacked by another dog over a week ago resulting in some surgery to stitch up the muscle behind her shoulder.

She's always been a bit reactive to other dogs on the lead but she's all bark and is a big softie and usually after having her little growl and bark she's then best friends with the other dog and just want's to play.

She's been stuck on the lead for the last 10 days til the stitches were out so we've been having quiet, on lead walks and although she's met some other dogs she has seemed a bit more wary.

This week she got to go back out with the dog walker - she's always walked with about 8 other dogs (there are 2 dog walkers who meet up every day). She's been a bit more growly and unsure since the attack even though these are dogs she knows well. Today despite beign allowed off lead, she walked to heel with the dog walker the whole time whereas normally she's in the water and hoolying about with the other dogs.

Physically she's fine - been running about in the garden, chasing a ball with no problems so I think it's more of a mental thing.

How do we go about building up her confidence around other dogs or should it just come in time?

It just came with time, with ours. Our vet had advised walking little and often to prevent the injured limb stiffening up, and that was the best thing we could have done for his head - the repeated little outings with nothing horrid happening gradually built his confidence back up.
