Hello hive mind, can anyone recommend a good supplier of electric fence posts? Ideally I would like some kind of bulk order discount! I guess we probably want one or two hundred.

Obviously there are a thousand and one suppliers out there so I thought I'd ask whether anyone was aware of a particularly good / good value one. I'd consider short or tall posts.

Many thanks

I always use Countrystore Direct. I’ve always found the prices reasonable and delivery quick.
4ft fence posts from Farmcare UK are £23 for a pack of 10. I always use them for supplies and new batteries as they are very competitive and delivery is excellent.

Thank you both very much! I'll take a look at both of these.

I've used Farmcare for years and have some of these posts that are at least 10 years old, I continue to buy from them as I like to have fences with the same height notches so I can get them tight, I buy green ones so no one when I was on a yard, got them mixed up with theirs (if you know what I mean! ;) )
Not on a yard anymore but still use Farmcare, next day delivery for any amount of stuff is £12.99 (used to be £6.95, a sad sign of the times)

We got ours from Screwfix. They seem good quality, and at a good price with quick delivery. Think they do bulk discounts, iirc.

Apologies for jumping on this post, but I am curious, are 4ft posts high enough for horses? I assume you lose some height for pegging in the ground? Need to start looking for some posts in the spring so am keen to know the height considerations and if size of horse influences the height of posts needed

At Equestrian co - bargain electric fence posts. 50 posts £44.40 with free p&P, thought i would try these - will let you know. 1m posts are big enough for my lot, whish have ranged from 16.2hh to shitland and donkeys. Any height will work if the 'shock' is strong enough. I did have larger posts but in strong winds they bent slightly and appeared more unstable.

Please update when you’ve received them. Has anyone bought from this company before? I had a look, but the website seems a bit vague, no address for instance.

4ft are fine but it’s probably more important to have some wooden posts at the corners so you can get a decent tension on the tape without pulling the plastic posts out. You don’t need many, around my acre field I only have 7. 4 at the corners, an extra one in the middle of a long side and another which forms a gateway to the centre. I do have one who thought it would be fun to climb through two strands of tape to get to the grass in the middle of the track so I put 3ft poles between the 4ft so I could add another strand of tape. That and a new battery stopped him in his tracks 🤣

Mine are 14.1 and 15hh

Following my original post I happened upon about 40 stirrup posts for sale down the road from me (secondhand) and bought those - but as you say the corners are the problem, even more so with the longer posts. Might see if I can get away with banging in four skinny wooden fence posts with a post knocker, then they can do most of the work. I will have to ask our YO very, very nicely.

Has your order arrived yet? Mine hasn’t, not a word since the order received email came, they’re not responding to emails and their phone number doesn’t work 🤬

I have also emailed them saying I recommended them on a 'national' forum and a customer hasn't received their goods - see if I get a response.

Thank you, I missed your post saying they’d arrived. I’ve had to do the job with a load of mismatched old ones which is a pita as all the notches are in different places 😕

Well that’s a spooky coincidence! I’ve just got home and they have been delivered :) Yay!

@Rowreach Hopefully yours will arrive soon. I didn’t receive any notification of shipment so that’s possibly the same for you.

Eta - They look to be good quality too, not flimsy at all.

So, despite accepting my order, taking my money, emailing to say they would let me know when it was sent, and then not bothering to contact me until I emailed to ask where it was (and taking over 24 hours to respond to that), they have quoted me £50 + VAT shipping. So obviously I've cancelled the order and they will refund me, hopefully as fast as they took the order in the first place.

I regularly send and receive items between here and the rest of the UK, and don't pay extortionate prices to do so. It annoys me when companies don't have their sh1t together with this sort of thing at the point of ordering, when they quote ridiculous charges, and mostly when it takes them over a week to bother to let you know that actually your order isn't on its way and you're wasting time waiting on it for the job you need to do.
