i agree with you srapeesh.
I just saw one of the posts you were talking about. And it wasn't just their opinions, they were getting very personal.
I have a quote from the post:

"To stop posting drivel! Most of what you come out with is worthy of 'My Little Pony' and its becoming worse. I am being constructive and am trying to stop myself from RAOTFPML at most of you posts. Maybe you should just keep it up-you make me laugh .

PS, off to the dentist to have a wisdom tooth taken out, less painful than reading you threads "

Oh come on, that was hardly threatening. If I felt unhappy about something on any internet site I would LEAVE. Bullying is relentless, and occurs in situations you can't get away from easily. The poster last night was very confrontational. I tried to tell her to stop, as did many posters. Some were sarcastic, others very frustrated at the lack of reasoned argument and the excessive ranting. Is was unfortunate that the poster couldn't spell, but really NOT bullying.

I've got a hot chocolate, galaxy with melted marshmallows..........mmmmmm

She posted another post today saying the other threads aka treads got out of hand

She was far from being bullied with her accusations and unreasonable confrontation.

Everyone has an opinion and with regards to the other post where you've named and shamed someone for being personal, does that not make you just as bad by trying to single someone out?

Maybe there is more to that then you know about, I dont know myself but in the posts I have read (I was a lurker before I registered........ooooh the scandal) I have never seen anything I would call bullying.

Oh I'd love a hot choc - I migt have to make myself one.

It was huge 38 ish pager last night that admin deleted this morning about the rescue of French meat horses. The OP seemed to think that as we didn't share her views we were a bunch of ne'er do wells and should be thoroughly ashamed of ourselves

Politely edited version of events

Oh I remember but arent we all entitled to different opinions thats the whole idea of the forum

.I obviously caught it at the begining of the thread and missed all the aggro thanks for enlightening me.

you are bullies..iv complained to h & h today about certain members on here and i hope they will do something about it.

Well done !! members on here have gone to far with their opinions..and now H&H are being threatened with legal agtion.

Reflex have been hounded and suffered abuse...and i hope they go after the people involved and take legal action.

scrapeesh im sure many people would agree with you but a lot of people dont come on here now as their are to many nasty comments being made

[/ QUOTE ]

I dont see how any legal action could be taken lol, she came on here saying we're all sick and deserve to have our souls rot in hell. They banned people from their own forum for asking legitimate questions and would not give a valid arguement or listen to anyones points.

This person who is supposedly ill now came back on and said the posts got out of hand, hardly the actions of someone traumatised by bullies!

She went on and on and on, about winning the arguement and us having no idea. She was a highly arguementative person and came guns blazing having a go at us.

I do not appreciate organisations who are encouraging people to buy knackered horses and bring them to this country with god only knows what disease, let alone the confirmation, endure the agony of that long journey and then be homed with people who may have little knowlege of BASIC equine care let alone the financial or time commitments owning a horse brings.

The homes arent vetted, the horses arent quarentined, and its making the problem worse by lining the pockets of these farmers who then go out and buy three more horses for the one horse that was rescued.

You cant expect to come laying down the law ANYWHERE and not get retaliation.

Honestly its becoming a nanny state!

Hounded and suffered abuse? Asked questions by geniunely concerned people and when hurling abuse at US have had some thrown back.

Two things here that REALLY grind me gears. I will deal with the issue of "bullying" first and foremost.

To the OP - when something is said, either as criticism or an opinion that differs from somebody else, particularly when posted on a PUBLIC forum, it is not bullying. Bullying is a behaviour undertaken by a person(s) whom over a period of time target a group or individual continually and without reason. Therefore, upon having read the responses to SG's post about her horse it is quite clear to see that there has been no issue of bullying. Having been bullied myself for many years through school, and suffering other conditions as a result I can assure you that I know what I am talking about.

Unfortunately I think the way in which SG phrased her post and the tone in which it was written came across differently to other people. Put it this way; if one of mine came in from the field after displaying behaviour that was not the norm and was leaning on me in order to assist his walking and weight bearing, AND was making a noise as he did so, I would have checked him over, got someone whom I deemed to be more experienced than myself to do the same and have a good look around, and call the vet. I do not count myself to be one of those, "hypochondriacs" as you put it. I think people like you, and the way you choose to express your opinions, would make someone else who read this post and perhaps was slightly more novice to question calling a vet out in the future, they may be lucky and nothing will come of it, or they may not be so lucky.

The second issue that I will now tackle is that of the "legal" action referred to by nokia.

Why does everyone think that it is so easy to pursue action for defamation, libel and slander? I hate the culture we now have here whereby if you say anything that does not conform to somebpdy else's opinion, it is automatically deemed to be some sort of defamatory claim. It is not. It is exceptionally difficult to prove, and bl**dy expensive to pursue. To give you an idea, defamation is the action by somebody (written or spoken) which if heard or read by another person, would make that person think less of the person subject to the defamatory comment.

The French Rescue company/charity/whatever they are have been called into question because after legitimate attempts by some people to gain access to their forum and to ask genuine questions about how they operate, they have been banned. Not only this, but they then saw fit to come on here, and provoke a lot of people with their "argument" which did not hold water and was not presented coherently. The (I presume) owner of the site came on here and made the assumption that because we do not support what they do, we couldn't possibly care for our animals, and then essentially made a fairly graphic threat in how we were to be strung up whilst travelling, having our throats slit etc.

There was no defamatory comment, people were questioning what this site did/does and were not given answers, and debate ensued.

Rant over. This nanny state is ridiculous. You can't fart without causing offence now.

Very eloquently put FandD, but when was it you could fart without causing offence???

Oh back in the good ol' days when I was younger and a fart - particularly a loud one - used to be the height of humour!!

I would of course like to add that I never ever fart, being one of those mystical female creatures whose digestive tract is completely different to my male counterparts.

I don't think there is bullying that goes on, I do however think that people (not just on this forum) feel more able to be downright rude and often quite abusive because they sit behind the safety of their computer.
An opinion is one thing, we are all entitled to that, but the manner it which it is expressed IMO is sometimes completely uncalled for and although the poster would argue otherwise I doubt they would put their opinion across in quite such a manner were the conversation happening face to face!

On the topic of the french rescue site I do think they have every right to be peed off with this forum! Their forum was ambushed then posts made back here taking the mick out of them.
Now ok, there are some very valid questions that a lot of us here would like answered but as I said on another post ambushing their forum and tearing it shreds on here is not the way to go about getting them to listen and certainly is not going to help people start to question what they are doing, all it does is get their backs up!

I am not saying that the questions shouldn't be asked or answered but there are ways and means of doing things and don't think what has gone on here over the last few days has done anything but pee people off......

New definition of the word 'bully':

One who frequents an internet forum and does not automatically agree with every view posted, even if it is to encourage a practice which fuels a cruel trade or a member failing to seek veterinary treatment for an injured horse.

I didnt actually see the posts on the other forum but I thought they were asking questions originally, serious questions and were getting banned and posts deleted for asking about the welfare of these horses?
