Bum building band

My physio/Chiro has recommended me to get the Bum building band for my horse.

Has anyone used this and what are your experiences?

Yes, I used one for rehabbing a horse. It's fine, but not a miracle cure. The most effective method was pole work. Started in hand in walk and built up over a few weeks to different exercises in walk, trot and canter, both ridden and in hand.
Having bought the band system that clips onto the saddle pad, it's a handy tool to have, particularly in winter when exercising is sometimes difficult and less varied. Would I buy it again? Probably not. Poles are very effective.
 
Yes - I have to do pole work but suggested to build up to the band. She also said to try the equi ami but as I long rein to lunge as she wont lung with one line, not sure if it would get in the way.

My horse is still in full work, she is just a little weaker on the right hind which is why she suggested these methods.

This is what i used and found it really effective (and cheap!) My cob is very lazy and the difference in his topline was noticeable after a couple of weeks. We pretty much stuck to walk too.
 
It's also useful to use a single bell boot on the weak hind when doing schooling exercises. The theory is that it acts as a reminder and prompts the horse to use the leg instead of compensating with the stronger side.

Ah - that is quite a good idea as well. Will need to look into this. x
 
I think this is why lungeing on 2 reins is so good, firstly you have contact like ridden work, but also the outside rein goes round their backside.

So, rather than a gadget per se, I would buy another lunge line and lunge on 2 lines, you can go large too, ground driving, and change rein frequently.

Hi, I always lunge with 2 reins as she doesnt lunge with 1. I've long reined her since she was a youngster. X
 
I use one on both my horses - but especially the one rehabbing. We walk out in hand in it and do pole work and long rein in it (not allowed to lunge on circles)
Not sure how much difference it makes as he's always stepped through from behind but must be similar to us using resistance bands.
I went for the cheaper option - it's specially made for the job but is essentially an elasticated surcingle (so adjustable) with clips at either end. It lives on my roller. £15
