I saw her last night putting her head over barbed wire to eat some grass (even tho she has a whole field of it!) could’ve been that? Thanks a mill! Good to knowIt looks as if her rug may have pinched her when she is putting her head down to graze or been rubbing a bit but not enough to damage the hair just the soft tissue under the skin, I have seen similar and it usually resolved once the rug was taken off, a bit of gentle massage may help disperse the swelling.
Just to add if she has not been wearing a rug either a minor kick, but unlikely as it is so central, or she could be stretching over something in order to get to food/ grass.
Moving fields right now! I had to put her in that field for the week because she broke out of her last field to wander around the yard! So now she’s going in the big field with some sheepI’d be quite concerned about a horse getting that close to barbed wire - I know sometimes it’s unavoidable on livery yards but if she’s already leaning over it I’d worry about her stepping into it and hurting herself. Any chance you could put electric fencing in front of the wire, or move fields?
