Hi All,
I bought my 5yo IDx in Dec and got his saddle after, he was a toughy to fit as rather high withers and no top line with narrow shoulders. When I got him he had a full clip probably the shortest setting possible and it's barely grown out, poor lad they didn't even leave him a saddle patch.. And due to this he's sensitive to rubbing especially in coat Change season, anything that touches his coat and moves atm is causing rub marks where the winter coat has no root and he has such minimal coverage. About a month ago his coat started thinning slightly under his saddle panels at the back but there was no discomfort. However he we had a lesson in the school Monday and he was quite sweaty after which has resulted in there raised lumps (I will try att a pic) I called the vet he said it may be a reaction and gave me pink lotion which I will try today. I have the saddler coming but she can't come until mid May... Does anyone know what this could be? His saddle fit really doesn't seem too bad but I am no professional and with him being so young I know he's likely changed shape since Dec so I'm desperate to get the saddler out.
He seems in no pain from them, you can press them pretty hard with no reaction when I've been cleaning the area with salt water and then applying derma gel he stands stock still and does not back away from anything... I've sent the saddler a pic and awaiting a response with some advice... But slightly worried about riding him now before the appointment, we've done some pretty long hacks (gentle ones.. Were potterers) and nothing similar to this has ever come up?
Any ideas? Also advice on numnahs etc as I think he will simply be coat sensitive would be amazing.
Thank you x
