Bavarian stallion Denario and Nicole Casper have just won the 6-yr-old final at the Bundeschampionate. Thought I would post some piccies for those of you who are interested

lovely photos I would have liked to have gone but was at the Europeans. have you any photo's of Hampton? or did you see him. Thanks

No, I'm very sorry - I've missed both the consolation final and the qualifying rounds for the 5-year-olds, and sadly he didn't make the final (which is tomorrow - today was the 6-yr-olds)

This is the first year I've been, and it really is amazing. Only problem is that I am finding the shopping slightly distracting. That's why I missed the 5-year-olds - I was too busy browsing the stands

Definitely try and go one year!

I don't think Imperio did so well, unfortunately. On Wednesday he did the most perfect test till the canter part, when he reared quite badly when she asked for the first flying change (which was really unfortunate -- I had seen all of their warm-up as I am madly in love with Imperio (I missed all the tests before his as I was too busy admiring him in the warm-up ring) and he was a bit spooky, but there was never, ever any tension in any of the changes they tried, which were all 100% perfect...). On Wednesday he got a 10 for trot, but only 5 (or 5.5, can't remember) for submissiveness, for a total 7.60 which wasn't enough to qualify for the final. He went into the consolation finals and won them easily with 8.50 (despite a slight loss of rhythm the first trot extension, which brought the mark for trot down to 9.5 - still not bad, ha? That day he got 7 for walk, 9 for canter, 8.5 for submissiveness and 8.5 for general impressions), so he qualified for the final through that (first 5 pairs in the consolation final go through). In the final he did a lovely test, just maybe not as expressive as the other ones he'd done, but only scored 8.2, which was only good enough for 5th place (though all the people I've met, including me obviously, think he should have been placed much higher).

Overall I think it was a disappointment for them - I'm sure they expected to be much higher than 5th. But he's definitely the horse who impressed me the most. He is just WOW. I'd be happy to spend the rest of my life watching him trot. I've just seen a gorgeous colt by him for sale but for some reason OH refuses to buy him

Three more pics of Imperio (these are from Wednesday)

Thanks !! I love him too having seen him in verden last year. Soo elegant and expressive! Sounds like they were a little unlucky. Still, on the plus side, maybe his stud fee won't rocket any further!!

Yep! Good point. Will try and convice OH to buy a broodmare then LOL!

Here are some pictures of the 5-yr-old final, which was held today

I've got more but will upload them tomorrow as there's a very interesting judging seminar analysing today's rides and I might sneak in

10 for trot, interesting. Very, very rounded front leg -which differentiates it from earlier high scoring trots (Poetin etc.). Also the point of the hock in both the trot pictures is still behind the carrying leg.

but photos are so misleading. I would love to see this horse in the flesh.

However, a comparison:

Halfstep, I agree. To me (but who am I to judge) there was no comparison between Blickpunkt's and Imperio's trot (Imperio also got a 10 for trot, in the first test they did) - Imperio had so much cadence and suspension, while Blickpunkt seemed just flashy. But then again, Imperio is older, it wasn't working trot but collected trot etc... By the way, the whole thing was shown live on Clip My Horse, maybe they still have the clips in their database? I'll check.
This horse in general got really high (excessively high?) marks, though - his walk got 9.5 which perhaps was too much.
At that judging seminar I managed to sneak into (

) a British judge actually commented on the walk, as she felt the mark was way too generous (walk was good but not that exceptional, tail swishing which maybe indicated relaxation wasn't perfect, etc). She made some very good points, but her question was basically dismissed with the argument that the rhythm of the walk was so clear and that's what they were looking for

As promised, some more pictures of the final of the 5-year-olds.

Ingrid Klimke on the British-owned stallion Dresden Mann. Ingrid was also competing in the showjumping and eventing at the Bundeschampionate!

It is so hard to tell anything from photos. I've always liked the look of Dresden Mann, but what happened? He got pretty low scores the first day?

Blinkpunkt is a nice horse but there is something about his way of going that doesn't appeal to me. I'll have a look at clipmyhorse if I can see the videos.

Imperio is smashing. Long elegant legs!

Sorry, forgot to answer this! I missed the first qualifier as I was too busy shopping

but from the results yes, he must have done something silly the first day as he came 57th (out of 60ish) with 6.9. He then won the consolation final and got through to the final that way. Unfortunately, for some classes they provided results with the full scores (walk/trot/canter/subm/gen.imp) while for this class I only seem to have the overall results, sorry, so can't guess what happened.
