Bungee

Has anyone had any success riding with one of these? I've only recently heard of them and wonder about the pros and cons. I presume it just gives gentle poll pressure?

Does the bungee go through the bit rings from the outside in, or from the inside out?

It goes from the outside in. They are good for horses that have a tendency to put there heads in the air.

They are good for keeping the horses head down, and yes, they give poll and mouth pressure if the horse raises its head above a certain level. I'm not sure how gentle it is, depends how much the horse fights against it, but they are fully elasticated.

I have used one in the past, and they are certainly easy to fit and very simple, unlike some other gadgets. And like any gadget which forces the horse's head into a position, you need to be careful you are not just fixing the horse's head down and not riding it through from behind.

I have been told that the best gadget for people who are not used to using gadgets but are struggling with a horse that waves it's head about in the air are Market Harboroughs.

I have used one on my mare before...it seemed to help her with her balance and to stop 'worrying' about her head position and bring more consistency to it. It seemed to make her calmer, smoother and more focused.
You do have to make sure you 'ride' forward as it can make them back off a bit if they are not forward going and you can lose momentum.
We found it helped a lot so we could work on other things...we didnt use it all the time and would always have cool off time for her to stretch down without it.

I've just started using one of these on my mare. She can be quite nose pokey. I have it quite loose and the elastic only comes into play if she sticks her nose out too far. Not sure if its 100% right. Anyone got any advice/ experience with these.

Hi Rolls, iv just ordered the training rein you have, my pony has a very bendy neck so im hoping it will help with his head position and encourage him to stop turning his head/neck to evade the rider! How are you getting on using it?
