Anyone have a horse that doesn't work well in this at all? Tried this on my horse today whilst lunging. He hated it - Just pulling against it, head in the air, no matter how loose or tight it was. It just didn't work!
Think I'll go back to my side reins.

I have the lungee bungee as I really liked the idea of it. First time I used it my horse ran around like a giraffe no matter how tight it was even though I could see it was uncomfortable for her. Second time she started to work better in it. She tended to go best after it was to the tightest ring then when I loosened it one.

I've only had her since mid-may and this was the only training aid i've tried with her. Going to keep trying. I've been told to try elasticated side reins but dont see why that would be a big difference. I think my mare can just be really stubborn at times.

I like them and think they have had a better effect on my horse than side reins but I did have an incident when it slipped off the head piece and gave him a nice rope burn tpe injury but of coure being a tb he thought his hed was about to fall off so have fashioned a clip to keep it where it's meant to be. Might be worth having a look to see if something similar has happened as I got that type of reaction when it happened.

Maybe try a chambon? It will have the same effect as a bungee but (in my experience) most horses take to it very happily, never seen a horse fuss with a chambon. I have seen a few evade the bungee though, well stretch it till it looked like it was about to ping!

OK maybe I'll see if I can get hold of one of them. Doing a fair bit of lunging right now, would like to see what suits him best.
