Dear all,
I am the competition manager for the Burgham Horse Festival. Just to put everyone's mind at rest it IS NOT CANCELLED! I dont know where these rumours are coming from! Top class showjumping from newcomers to Grand Prix with £4k to the winner and televised on sky sports PLUS unaffiliated dressage everyday of the show!!! All details at www.burghamhorse.co.uk
stabling on site so get your entries in!!! and if you dont want to compete then come and watch, it will be a fantastic 3 days competition!!!

The only reason BE isnt going ahead this year is because it was under snow for over 6 weeks and we just couldnt get the ground works done! It will go ahead next year. I think there are just a few people out there trying to cause trouble, there are so many people working so hard on this show, bringing a huge show with amazing prize money to an area that hasnt had top equestrian competition in years!!
People should be supporting it!!!

Have to agree with depp-by-chocolate (bloody great username btw!) in that I have heard from other folk on my own forum that they've not had responses from organisers, or dates when tickets are on sale etc etc.

I understand why the BE isn't running, but when you click on the BE link and it comes up all red and flashing saying its cancelled, then folk think they whole thing is cancelled.

I also speak as a potential tradestand holder in that it is way to expensive for the small local business to come and support it as it's financially unfeasible.

i posted about this a few days ago.

hope its not me you think is causing trouble
all the articles in the local press for the last couple of months have been a little confusing as to what was going on .
perhaps they were wrote by a none horsey journalist ?

it is a long time since we have had a big show in this area and i hope it is a success.
i will be coming with some friends and am looking forward to having a good day out and seeing some top showjumpers at the top of there game.

all the best of luck for the weekend and hope for a nice sunny day :D

could you let me know who you emailed? I am the competition manager my email is on the website www.burghamhorse.co.uk and I certainly return all emails.
The website gives regular updates to what is going on, just seems people prefer to guess then tell everyone. When you are working as hard as I am to make this show a success for the area I cant tell you how frustrating that is!
All I can say is we are doing our best! People have moaned and moaned there are no big money shows in the North east pulling in the best in the Uk. Well now there is, lots have people are working like idiots to make it a success so how about supporting it?

i am a supporter of all things equestrian in the north east and think it is great to have a big show way up here as we seem to be forgotten about.

however everyone on here seems to be politely telling you what they think and i understand how busy and poss stressed you are at the moment but you seem to be coming across as quite rude with your comments and that is no way to win support

it may be you just being defensive and me being a bit of a sensitive sole :)

again i hope you have a very good weekend

Hello there,

I'm Jill the Event Administrator for Burgham and if anyone has had issues with contacting the team then please do let me know and I'll do my best to help. My contact details can be found on our website http://www.burghamhorse.co.uk/contact_us/default.asp

Please do bear in mind that with less than three weeks to go the office is very busy right now but I'll get back to you as soon as I can. :)

Following a couple of teething troubles I'm delighted to announce that our online ticket ordering system is up and running for those of you wishing to beat the crowds and purchase tickets in advance http://www.burghamhorse.co.uk/tickettest.asp

In addition to our star attractions of BS affiliated showjumping and unaffiliated dressage we will have a lovely trade village and for our canine fans we have a dog agility displays so do come along and show the UK that the north has something to shout about.

My daughter is competing there this weekend, and is dead excited. She's bringing four horses with her, and it's a drive all the way from Kent (Canterbury), so hope it's worth it for her.

Good Luck Baby - you know who you are. x

Well I for one am really up for this. As a born and bred Northumberland lass we've waited for so long for some top class showjumping in the area. I'm going back to the days when Broome, Smith, Macken and the likes would grace the Stannington Equestrian Centre. I was a regular at Bowies and I hope to see some of the big names in the region this weekend.
The North East and especially Northumberland is probably entering another period of depression and recession and has very little to offer other than in tourism .
This might just be a way to lift its profile and engage with those from outside the region- sadly in the way Raoul Moat has recently promoted the village of Rothbury in recent times!
I cant understand the apathy surrounding this prestigious event???
Burgham you have my vote. I hope its a MASSIVE success for you and Northumberland as a whole. Lets hope its a huge annual event in the future.
Looking forward to shopping & showjumping!
