Did anyone do the novice at Burgham last year? Just wondering whether it is suitable for the first novice run of the season. Would be grateful for any feedback from anyone who competed there.
Thanks
Hi, Yes I did the noive at Burgham last year although I have been told it is a different course builder this year so some of the portable fences that were used will not be there this year.
Really liked this course / event.
There was a log jump into water at around fence 5 (with alternative being a run in to water over a skinny fence - which actually wasn't an easy option in my opinion), 2 other small water splashes and a second water towards the end which was a duck in middle of water- i imagine this won't be there this year as one of the other course buiders fences. So as long as you are happy with water no probs.
Only other tricky fence was a double of skinnies (a being an egg and b a skinny brush) Think these were portable too.
O and no ditches or anything like that last year although this may well have changed!
Other then this I would say pretty straight forward.
The course designer is now Ronald Alexander who now does Skipton. In eventing magazine this month it says "good old fashioned style fences set more to challenge the nerve of the rider than horses who are capable of the standard attempted"
