Not really horsey related but I know horsey people will have the answers.

A group of 17 of us are going down to Burghley to do "Dirty Weekend".................get you minds out the gutter it's not what you think, it's a 20mile, 200 obstacle race.

We're looking for somewhere close to stay on the Friday & Saturday night, anyone got any suggestions from visiting Burghley 3 days event in the past??

We're coming down Friday 10th May and heading back eithre Sunday 11th May or Monday 12th May.
We had looked at rental houses for the weekend (they're normally minimum 3 nights hence the possibility of Monday)
We're looking for pub rooms, we'll not be there much, it's more for the guys actually doing the event (I'm not that daft, I'm going to cheer them on) don't think camping the night before would be a good idea and we're travelling from Edinburgh so it'll take about 6hrs to get there, for that reason we also want to stay over night on the Saturday after the event as doing 20miles, 200 obstacles and then having to sit in a car for 6hrs their legs would be ruined.
Somewhere cheap and cheerful, doesn't have to be fancy, if there are any rental houses (we've been in touch with Piper House, The Granary and Audby and they're all booked) that would be ideal. We can split over a couple of locations if needs be.

I've contacted The Bull & Swan who are full and also The Crown which is full, don't mind doing a bit of travelling (maybe 30/45min from Burghley) but the closer the better.

There is a days inn just off the A1 (south from Burghley) that i have stayed at for the 3 day event. Cheap and cheerful. Its about half an hour away? Maybe less........

I would try the Travelodge at Morcott - just off the A1 and about 15/20 minutes from Burghley

I don't know of any houses that would be for rent - especially for the numbers you need:o and most of the pubs have only 4 or 5 rooms:o

May also be worth trying these

They are in villages about a mile apart - the Noel also has a conference centre which may have extra accommodatiom - and they are 15/20 minutes from Burghley.

They are also about a 15/20 minutes from Burghley and as bigger hotels maybe to accommodate you all :)

I would definitely call both of the Barnsdales and see if they can do a deal due to your numbers :)
