me and my mates are off to Burghley this year as we did Badminton last year. we stayed in a youth hostel at badminton and wondered if any of you have been to Burghley and where we should stay?

thanks

There are lots of B&B and pubs in the villages locally - but you will need to book now as a lot of them get booked year on year. There is a YH in Stamford but I don't know if you can book them. It really depends on how much money you want to spend on accommodation - also bear in mind that you will need to drive from the villages.

I grew up in the village of Duddington about 5 miles from Stamford. The pub there - The Royal Oak does B&B but I don't know how expensive it is.

There is a campsite at Yarwell Mill I think that allows tents, caravans etc but its a long time since I lived there and I'm not sure if its still open - this is approx 7-8 miles away from Stamford.

don't forget it is on a train line so you can stay in oakham, come in by train and then walk up to the event

i've never done it that way, but that would be quite a walk, wouldn't it? the park's not v close to the centre of Stamford.

i walk every year, its sort of satisfying walking past the stationary cars and the walk is about 20 min and also means i can have a wee drinky and not worry about pc plod

last year as i walked up on the friday and random car stopped asked if i was going and gave me a free ticket

the train ticket for me is the same cost as parking so its a win win situation
