Burghley Ring Two Photographers?

Didn't get placed but the experience was well worth it!!! Friend summed up the class on my exit by saying "why is it all the ones that DONT work in a proper outline, bounce around all over the place and are generally bad mannered or misbehaving get placed"???? Another friend described them as Factory Farmed Show Horses!

Mr T was impeccably well mannered, gave the judge a fab ride and even when some mad chestnut was bouncing around like a demented loony (and I dont mean for five mins - this was throughout the class) he just bowled along behind it without even flinching or reacting! Think his biggest problem is - he's just not fat enough! He still looks race horse ish and never will be FAT SHOW CONDITION! But such is life! There were loads watching and when I went into the ring it suddenly hit just how big this was!!!! However we gave it our best shot and we;ll do it again next year too!!!!!

Got a lovely rossie for taking part!!!

I can tell you when I get home from work as there is a sticker on the back of my sister's photo from the burghley event pony. I can picture the red lorry but I can't remember the name...

Ahhh excellent! Sounds like it was fun

I watched the start of the class and agree that the go round was very hectic - I would not have been in that ring for all the tea in China, especially on number 513 which looked like it wanted to go into orbit (well done for sticking with it as the rider as it looked horrible at the start!). It looked a hard class to judge (to my inexperienced eyes) as some of those pulled into the top of the line gave a horrible ride (2nd one threatened to buck David Bartham off, 1st was disunited for 90% of the judge's ride) so not sure how the final order would have been decided. The confirmation and ride judges didn't seem to be passing marks to a steward (maybe I missed something) so how they finally separated 1 grey, 2 or 3 chestnuts and 25 bays I don't know....glad you enjoyed the day, Ovidius, please post a pic and maybe I can recognise you after the event!

Well I was number 562, on the little chestnut who was stuck behind number 513!!!! Good job my lad is very laid back isn't it!!! I think at one point she lost control on the left canter and must have done a complete lap and then over taken me again.....

Funny I agree with your comments and not due to the fact that I didn't get placed, but they were my comments as well..... I think most of the top ten gave awful rides! And how the one that only raced last weekend can be classes as a racehorse to riding horse is totally beyond me? Its still a racehorse so how does it qualify for that class, let alone the fact that it was in arab racing???? It seems that the judges like the Fat Factory Farmed TB, and how can they actually class conformation?? TB's are not bred for conformation, they are bred for speed! Oh well, I still love my boy no matter what and as I said before, t'was a great experience!!!
Will definately enter it next year - just got to work out how to turn him into one of those factory farmed TB'd without killing him with colic first!!!!

I was last in the line up, my boy was the one they described as "Lucky to be here today as he colicked on Wednesday night"
