Not seen myself but had some reports from friends - mud everywhere, sheltering from the rain. Police reckon they're gonna close the event if they can't get emerg vehicles thru.:(

I was there last night and the ground was in good shape. Plus the forecast for the rest of the week is really goid

Just asked a friend who's there now. She says: Soggy. Cool. Boots not shoes. Muddy patches. Also, that it's run in far worse conditions than this.

So, hopefully all will be fine and well and it will stay open :D

I have just got back and it is very muddy already and the need for wellies is a must. All walk ways slippery. I personally very disappointed with the lack of tack trade stands. I could not find any of my tack shopping. It is raining here at the moment.

I'm here now. There are some muddy patches round the stands. We've had some rain. Sun out now. Car parks are fine.

You'll want boots rather than shoes. Forecast dry for next three days
x

Burghleys fine! Been there all day, was pretty rainy but ground in carparks etc is good and tradestands will dry with abit of breeze.

Phew I go every year we are off tomorrow - i recall it was weather for ducks last year really teaming it down after a delay they carried on.

Sorry about the tradestand comments as the shopping is the best bit.

I don't know how it is up there obviously but caught up with the Jennifer Saunders programme/series where she was speaking to the guy at Badminton after it was cancelled and while the going would have been OK for the horses it's the whole emergency vet and ambulance for horses/people thing that was the issue there back in May as they want/need to get those to fallen horse/people in several minutes and the ground wouldn't have allowed for that. SO I am keeping my fingers crossed for all you Burghley goers that the weather is kind to you and it goes forward from today OK for all concerned and it's a fab event :) So many have been cancelled this year, something has to go ahead :)

I must have been at a different Burghley - it was fab.

Trusty Dubarrys kept my feet dry, got hot enough to take fleece off, and walked most of the course where the going was superb. As someone else said, I have seen it far, far muddier so roll on Saturday!

It's brilliant! Hardly any mud. Took my wellies off & put my dubarrys back on after some rain. Going is perfect. My little car had no trouble going over the parkland up some steep hills to get out at 7pm.
Hundreds of trade stands but not that many tack shops
