Burleigh attendance....

This will be a nice simple one..... hopefully...

My boyfriend is very kindly (or stupidly) taking me to Burleigh next Sat, and he wants to know...

How many people go on Sat aprox - when i said there were thousands and thousands - he thought i was exaggerating! I've competed at big shows (RIHS, HOYS Etc) but being behind the scenes isn't the same as beign a spectator at these events, and personally i think that Burleigh XC day is a much larger show than any of the ones i've been to!

Also ... what would really help if anyone was coming from South Essex way - what time would you leave to get there at a reasonable time & to not sit in traffic for hours??

Figures in the past have been around 150000 visitors over the four days, certainly several thousand on the Saturday, definitely good five figure's-worth. I would aim to be at Burghley as early as you can bear on the Saturday morning. It gets busy in the town, but you tend to move through the queues fairly efficiently. If I go, I aim to get there about 8.30-9am, and have breakfast inside! Take a good picnic to have at the end of the day, so you can watch everyone queuing to leave. Far better to spend an hour sitting with a nice tea, then driving straight out, than spending an hour sat in the car. Enjoy your visit

There is usually well over 100,000 during the Saturday

The best time to get there to avoid the worst of the traffic is early - ie 8.30 - 9 or after about 10.30/11. anytime in between expect long queues in every direction
