Well Hen has now done her first novice! She was absolutely mega! Am so pleased with her!

Dressage arenas were bottomless so really hard to do anything other than just ride the movements where they should be! She did a very accurate, obedient test scored 39.1. Was very pleased with her in the conditions.

SJ was on fab all weather surface and she jumped brilliantly

- just had the last part of the double, the last fence. Am thrilled with just one down though as I did think it was possible she'd have 3 or 4!

XC was quite decent - had an enormous double of corners (they look especially enormous when your riding a 15hh horse!) 3 from home with no alternative.

She was awesome

had a couple of sticky moments - one at a big barrel fence with a water tray in front of it, she gawped and didn't get high enough and we hit it quite hard

but managed to stay upright! Then a drop log into the wood she had a look before she went and shot me out the saddle and I had to hang on down the hill which was a bit hairy

, but she couldn't have done a better job of the corners and went clear.

So pleased with her - you might be able to tell! Glad the first one is out the way now and I know what to expect next time!

Sorry to bore you all!!!!

She goes to Highclere next weekend to do PN, entered really in case anything went wrong at Burnham Beeches, but will be good for her to have a fun, easier run after yesterday - not that she made much of it anyway! Then West Wilts and Gatcombe.

Finished 23rd so not really very high up, but not worried about the placing at all.

I remember you asking about stabling for Gatcombe! Will look out for you there!

Good stuff, you must be chuffed for her first novice run! I was there on Sat, and thought the corners were a bit tricky with no alternative.

I went to watch on sunday & couldn't believe the state of the dressage arenas, is it often like that at events when its rained? I can understand they can't do much about the xc course but surely they could of moved the arenas over abit, they had enough room! The horses were slipping all over the place
