Could anyone tell me what novice course is like at burnham market? Competed in 90 there few years ago so know layout but wondering whether it is suitable for first novice run after decent length of time away fom eventing?

Plan is:
100 at Aston le walls 2nd march
100+ at Stafford 23rd march
100 or novice at burnham market 17th April
Novice at Aston le walls 17th may

will also be doing few BS newcomers classes feb-April and xc schooling/cinics between events.

Obviously will see how he feels after first 2 events but if he's making it feel as easy as he used to would burnham be a good step up event or should I wait for aston 2?

I would say no IMHO.

Last year it was big and bold - I counted 3 decent spread fences or tables in the first 6-7 fences.

The first water can be a bit tricky (In woods, log in and skinny out) but generally I think it gets easier towards the end of the course.

I think I would pick ALW or Richmond over Burnham, but good luck with whatever you choose.

Thanks, had a feeling from somewhere that it was tough course but couldn't find anything online to support. Think we are going to go for Solihull then Aston or bishop burton to get going again then maybe try novice at burnham 2 in sept :)

Yes Solihull is a good first one.

I have not been to BB but hear it is decent, would choose ALW over that and once you have two under your belt OK you are off!!!

Good luck
