I've just had to cut most of the fur off Henry's tail as after he went into a hedge and came out with his tail utterly matted with the horrible things - I just couldn't pull them out. He looks ridiculous

Are they still around? Remember B got attacked in the summer.....

ETA - I used a wire slicker brush to get them out, made a hell of a mess of the brush though, and then washed him the next day. He had loads around his bum, which understandably he didn't really like me brushing.

solution - spray with canter mane/tail spray, leave for a few minutes and then comb out with a pulling comb. It saves the attacking with scissors. I have to agree they are a pain in the arse.

They seem to be a year round thing here

Henry's tail was so spiky he kept wagging it then turning to look at it to see what was making it so prickly! Literally every inch of it was full of them.
