Bute, am i wrong?

Does bute have antibiotic properties? I always thought it was just a pain killer but whenever i ask a certain person if their horse is still on antibiotics, they say 'well i'm still giving her bute'

Am i being a knowitall, or is bute not going to stop infection!?

No, I don't think so but it does have antiflammatory properties like aspirin.

Nope! Bute is a painkiller and an anti inflammatory. No antibiotic action that I know of.

Ah, thank you all. Good. I did consider the anti inflammatory side of things, but then again that's no good if germs are still getting in there.

I feel bad for wanting to say 'you're wrong' But maybe people should know what they are giving their horses daily??
