Can anyone recommend a substitute for bute that actually works?

My mare is currently on 2 sachets of danillon per day for a chronic stifle injury and after a discussion with my vet tonight, I am thinking about trying something like Buteless alongside the danillon in the hope of eventually cutting her danillon down a bit.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Because she has a history of gastric ulcers.

For the past month she has been on 3 sachets per day but she trotted up at only 2/10 lame tonight so the vet has suggested trying to wean her off 3 sachets to 2 per day, with the ideal result being 1 sachet per day. We would both feel happier if we could reduce the level of Danillon due to her ulcer history. Just thought a bute substitute might be worth a try?

As above^^ why are you concerned about your horse being on Danilon? It is much less harmful to the stomach than Bute. My old mare has been on a sachet/day for well over 3 years and has shown no side effects whatsoever.

Also, perhaps it would be better to check with your vet if you put an "alternative" with Danilon.
