Bute Substitutes

Boswelia is supposed to perform better than Devils Claw and be kinder on the system.

I have read this but if so, why is it less well known? Anyone able to comment from experience of use?

I am interested to read the suggestions & comments here too; I was planning to order some from Equine Answers. But I thought Devil's claw is supposed to be less risky for the system than bute; what problems might it cause?

We use Boswellia for our 15yo ID mare who has arthritis & it certainly seems to help her. We looked at Alphabute which has boswellia in it but then spotted something on here I think from somebody who went from the alphabute just to the boswellia on it's own & said it was working so decided to try that first & I'd say it's helping, she still gets some stiffness but nowhere near as bad & it walks off quicker when you bring her out

I too wholly recommend Bute Substitute from Equine Answers but this one http://www.equineanswers.co.uk/prodpage.asp?ProdID=25 I rang and spoke to the chap there Andy (very knowledgeable and helpful) and he said the Bute Substitute Powder was more effective than the liquid as it has the same amount of devils claw but also MSM too. I queried if it would take longer to get into the system than the liquid and he said no. Sure enough, it was very fast acting and there was a huge difference in my gelding in just 24 hours - highly recommend it (I should be on commission!)

hiya iv tried cosequine...brill but far to expensive..and it has bovine extract in it ???

synquine...would not eat it

pegusus health...no diffrence at all

Feedmark...to big a scoop to feed their is more herbs than feed

So now im going 2 try equine answers

but to be honest, nothing iv found works as well as Danillon.

Hiya,

I am doing a survey on equine joint supplementation and the public's experience with using them for my dissertation. I think this is a very important area in need of research. There are hundreds of products currently in the market and I want to highlight the products that do work from the products that don't. Then try to isolate the specific ingredients from your results, to work out why the products that do work do!

If guys have any experiences at all with joint supplements, I would be super greatful, if you could complete my quick survey. You will be helping to remove products that don't work from the market.

I'm waiting delivery of my order of Premierflex Plus (it has Devil's Claw in it) from Equine Answers, bit of a holdup with supplies & apparently they make the supplements up themselves. I will try this, & if no improvement after a couple of months I may try boswellia. In answer to my earlier question, obviously I need to try them separately or will never know which works (if any). Keep the recommendations & comments coming. I can't get Danilon anyway in France.
