I think it depends what you use them for. I used buteless or butefree for my stiff mare and it made no difference. I gave the stuff to my friend for her mare and she said it worked great so its trial and error I guess.
She has devils claw in a joint supplements that she is on but wanted an extra dose of something for a bit until vet gets her sorted without giving her trueno bute.
Out of interest, why not use Bute? I've used it for all mine when needed, with Milk Thistle alongside to help the liver. One horse won't take Bute so has Danilon.
Also, just be aware that Devils Claw (Harpagophytum) can be just as hard on the stomach as bute.
For an alternative you could try boswellia serrata (frankincense), which isn't hard on the stomach, and I had great success with this while a hock spavin was fusing/settling.
On one of mine i use 150% of the recommended dose with no ill effect as i thought it would ease his pain while i sorted out PTS as 4 bute daily didn't touch him. 3 years later he is still sound as long as i maintain that dose. If i drop it he goes lame but on it he is a comfortable field sound and occasional hack.
oops on phone
so i was looking for a shott términos relief that would mimick bute without tgeb drug effects nutre sounds like devils claw takes too long to get into system. I will def look into that once i know the outcome.
Do the Buteless types take a while too?
