Hi
My old ex racer is currently on Equine Americe buteless, considering putting him on Maxavita green mussel tablets but wondered what peoples experience is with the green mussel supplements?
He has stiff hocks which buteless has helped and hes in light work but I wondered if the Maxavita tablets would do more. I know you cant turn the clock back but any thoughts much appreciated.

Thankyou

My mare is on box rest this week with a daily dose of danilon- she has mild arthritic changes in her fetlock and the mud going out has unsettled her she has been on EA Glucosamine & MSM as a loading dose for 2 months and was doing really well but the mud is just awful now. I was running out of the other and was having a look for something else so I bought 3 months worth of Maxavita and started at the begining of the week. I guess I woun't be able to tell if she get better what helped most out of the rest the bute the lack of mud or the product have helped but hoping to see some benefits - TBH she went in the sand school last night and looked much happier allround especially on her fronts where the problem is. To my mint the maxavita has everything she was having before plus some extra, ps I don't find it smells of fish + she eats it all up and can be quite picky about "stuff" I've put in her feed to make her feel better hence having to have Danilon

My welsh cob has ringbone & although he's sound at the moment (fingers crossed!) he does still get abit stiff/hobbly when he first starts ridden work, once warmed up he is fine.
I have been feeding him this for about 2 months now: http://www.pegasushealth.com/product/boswellia-serrata
He's stayed sound on it and seems happy. Ive never tried Maxivita but I do give my boy human green lipped mussel capsules which I get from Holland & Barratt:

I just open the capsule (which is like see-through plastic) and pour the powder into his food. He has 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening.

I really like green lipped mussel extract for athritic conditions. I have seen horses with pain, turn round quite dramatically on it, so go for it.

I've been using premierflex plus from premier equine, which also contains devils claw, find it works quite well if that helps.

I use Pernamax tablets which are green lipped mussel extract. They were half price on offer with Robinsons and my mare is really good on them. I rate them better than the Glucosamine she was on.
