Button on top of Hat?

Hi all,

Is there a name for the button/nobbly bit on top of a riding hat?

Mine is (was) a screw in one but its fell off and ive lost it and just wondering how id go about getting a spare but cant seem to make a good start on trying to find out!

Tbh, if the button has fallen off I'd be buying a new hat, or if the hat is within warranty, taking it back to the shop!

I think it's called a squatchee.

It's called a squatchee on a baseball cap, but I think that on a riding hat it is simply a button.

I strongly suspect that the thread is a standard metric thread; I'll try to take a look at my Decathlon helmets, they have a removable button that serves to secure the vent cover in place (so you can change the vent cover to have a different colour, or a transparent cover and put a printed slip of cardboard below it).

So if it is a standard thread diameter and pitch, you could take a bolt or machine screw, maybe cut off the head, and use epoxy glue to attach any kind of large button to it.
