if youre after a dressage horse I think the BD site is the best. I generally avoid the free sites or horsemart. Still cannot believe someone did this to you - its so totally weird. I would have been fuming too.

If you know or work with a dressage instructor, enlist their help.It is a small world & they often know of good horses for lower level riders, usually ones that have " peaked" so to speak. I have bought successfully from several dealers, there is one in Ireland I use. PM me if you want specifics, though I don't know much about East Anglia. TBH, I think a lot of the cheap web sites attract crooks or scatty types. Good luck, I am sure you will find something. It took me 5 months of relentless work.
