I'm looking to purchase a trailer in the next couple of months, probably a 510/511 as I have a horse/hippo! Given the amount of thefts reported on this kind of trailer, I'm really concerned about ensuring that everything is legit. Is there anything I should be wary of from the viewing or any phone calls with vendors?

What documentation should I be asking to see? Original dealer receipt, data tag registration? Anything else...

Sorry for the daft questions but I'd rather be safe than sorry, thanks! :)

Ask for the serial number and phone Ifor Williams they can then tell u if it's stolen and what year it is. Do this before viewing as once bought it's too late to do much about it. Have fun trailer hunting !

Some people won't give you the chassis number over the phone but you can ring IW whilst you're viewing and they'll tell you instantly. I got mine from a main dealer, it was no cheaper than some were selling for on ebay and it was fully serviced, warranted and definately not stolen!

Thanks both. Clippy, I've been keeping my eye out at the local dealers and haven't seen anything suitable. Will keep checking though!
