How much would you look at paying for a welsh D foal (to take at weaning obviously) - good blood lines, to make about 15.1 ish? Good temperament, like the mare, like the stallion.

Thankies much :) x

faracat - would you say that would be average price for that kind of stamp?

Here's some pics

I've seen a whole range of prices round here. A very nice bay two year old filly sold for £375 and you really can get a nice (non-dilute) youngster (foal to 3 years) for £500. For a very, very nice dilute, I would expect to pay more but for £1200, I'd expect to be able to buy something special. It all seems very cheap to me as an Arab person! ;)

lol yes I know what you mean about the prices on arab youngsters!

I'm looking at it at the moment as what money I would spend if I were to breed a foal TBH. My other option is to put my mare in foal (bred foals previously, good mother, and throws a good type). I am working on the principle that I would be spending shaping up £1k to get a foal on the floor, and I would also lose my mare for riding during this time.

I have seen youngsters for less money - but in all honesty, nothing that has grabbed my eye. I do like this little chap though.

I understand this exactly. I had thought about breeding my anglo mare to an arab to get a 75% PBA, but in the end I decided that it would be better to buy a weanling/yearling. It has worked really well and I would buy another youngster again rather than breed.

If he's really stood out to you, then go and see him. I knew within 5 minutes that my filly was 'the one' and this was confirmed when I met both her sire and dam and really liked them both too. :)

I went to see him today :). There were 3 / 4 that I had picked out off the website that I liked the look of - but only he really stood out to me. There was also a yearling & 2yo - but neither of them had the presence the palamino had.

His grandmother (dams side) is my mare - which I am trying to ignore as much as I can, as I don't want to be swayed by the fact that he is related to my girl!

I didn't think that I would like his sire - as the pics on her website weren't great, and I am not a cremello fan - but he was absolutely stunning in the flesh - which really suprised me.

I really like him - and he is the one that grabbed me, even in a field with 12 other foals in it!! The lady who has bred him is a bit of a nutter and has somewhere between 90 - 100 horses at her place!! :)

For me, this would be important as buying him is an alternative to breeding the mare. ;) :D

i haven't had him out yet

ive only had him about a month and as he is to eventually sell i want him really secure before i take him out in public ;)

he won't be naughty because he hasn't got it in him but he is very green so taking my time and doing things properly with him so he's not quite ready yet :)

he really has got a lovely bright ,kind nature so don't think you could go to far wrong with the same blood lines ,i'm very pleased with him :)

Thanks for your replies. Tbh I'm in a bit of a quandry as I really do like him but just am not sure whether to take the plunge.

I am looking for another after losing my boy a few weeks ago, and I'm not sure it's just my heart telling my head I'm not ready yet. He is special little chap, but I'm sure there would be cheaper youngsters around, but would I actually like them ggaaaahh! And so it goes on in my head lol

Thanks for all your help guys :)
