Buying a horse from the field..yay or nay?

A friend did something similar, spent £5k on this lovely horse that had just sat in a field - after a few weeks of work, the horse went lame and had to be PTS!! Vet said 6months off had probably let it heal enough to be ridden lightly for a few weeks!!

Walk away unless you can afford to lose the money and have your heart broken!

i'm a great believer in fate;), i lost my TB and was devastated, about a month later a friends old share horse desperately needed a home and i agreed to help out by having her on loan, 5 years later she's still with me, i wasn't sure if i was ready for another but fate handed me the big girl and she was the remedy i needed;)
