Buying a horsebox on finance...

Thoroughly recommend Close Asset finance... They were brilliant with us and old fashioned...none of the computer says no type of stuff...based in Wimbledon if your trying to google them....

Used my own bank to buy my trailer. Was able to get a 5k loan over four years with flexible repayments so I could over pay (and I did, I paid it off within a year).

I applied online and the money was in my account instantly. It was scarily easy to borrow money! They would have given me a lot more on the same sort of easy access as well.

Yeh looked online and some banks do lower interest. Also my car is on finance so i wouldn't be able to put another motor on finanace unless of was earning big bucks....
It is another option as a lot of companies selling horseboxes and offering finanace are very expenisive and it would cheaper to buy a wagon privately. If i could persuace my dad who was a mechanic to check it over first... that will be the difficult bit!

Peregrine finance are very good in your part of the world. They are a broker so will get you the best rate . usually well under the banks or other sources generally about 6/7 % APR at the moment., PM me if you would like a contact with them.

I also bought mine with a loan from the bank. Interest is incredibly low and it was really quick and easy to set up. I had a really low budget so the loan and repayments are manageable. My car is also on finance.

Any finance agreement nowadays give you that flexibility by law .

Second this. They are contracted to provide financial advice around retirement time for the large multinational firm that OH works for. We have additionally signed them up to manage our own portfolio, and have already saved £££s through their advice. Good old fashioned firm, not fly by night wonders.

Definitely compare the all-in costs for finance to a personal loan. Often the rate sounds good, but they carry extra charges which push the cost up. I'd use something like moneysupermarket and compare it to whatever your own bank offers as well.

When I applied a year ago there were two options one you would be charged if you paid it off early but the interest was slightly lower. The other it was higher but no charge to pay off early, which is why I chose that one as I knew I would pay it off early, but wanted low repayments just in case something terrible happened and I couldn't pay it off quickly.

They don't appear to offer the first option now.

Thanks this has been really helpful. I no longer work with horses and have a real job now and a better wage so they might let me take finance out on a horsebox. Otherwise parents will have to come to the rescue as garantuers!
Either way i need transport... i have a competition horse who cant go anyhere and more importantly a pregnant mare who is going to be sent to stud to foal as i work full time and dont think i could keep her supervised enough.

Now to decide whether i want 3.5t or go all out for 7.5t.
Will be travelling one horse most of the time but he is big, dont want to buy a 3.5 and be pushing the payload all the time. Also in the long term i will be travelling 2. My 17hh eventer is about 670kg nevermind all the 'stuff' and helpers you need to take eventing! Dont think i could ever travel two (even though the second would most likely be a 15.2hh light tb) legally in a 3.5t?
