Hi im after some advice

Ive found a suitable lorry, havent owned one before, i have the right license etc ive noticed my friend driving her leyland DAF barely using 1st gear, she pulls off in 2nd, the one im looking at is a Ford Cargo (in fab condit) so should i be looking at only using 1st for a big hill?

Also how difficult is it to install an electric hook up?

Thanks so much for any info

My father in law pulls off in 2nd quite a lot with ours too - once we've got going that is... but i don't know why as i don't drive it!
We put a hook up in, well we sent it into CAT (an electrical/mechanic company) who did it in about an hour!
:) good luck, lorries are great providing you can keep them undercover in the dry!

Depending on how they are 'geared', 1st gear is often referred to as 'crawler' gear in lorries and are only appropriate when pulling away/crawling up a steep incline.

You will get to know your lorry and what is appropriate by playing with it and listening to its responses! Don't panic....you won't kill it! Enjoy. Can't help you on the hook up front as never had a lorry that posh! :)

thanks guys, post was meant to say have owned one before not havent haha unfortunately i only drove it myself once, owned it for 2 weeks and lent it to my YO to go Showjumping, they tilted the cab potching with it without my knowledge and the following morning they attempted to take it to Badgeworth, the sound proofing had dropped onto the engine (where they'd been potching) so it caught fire on the motor way! gutted to say the least! Fair to say i shall not be lending my next one out haha
