Whereabouts are you. I've got one here who has done 2 seasons as huntsman's horse but the Mastership has stood down. PM me if Shropshire/Worcestershire border is anywhere near you.

Val Rees in Carmarthenshire always has hunters for sale.
I think finding the right hunter is the hardest horse to find, especially at this time of year when you've no chance of trying or even seeing them out hunting. A few years ago I wasted a season with a succession of nightmare horses which were not suitable for me - stoppers, pullers, joggers. I spent the best part of £12,000 on horses which made me miserable. I've been there and don't envy you one bit!

Indeed! I'm fed up of wasting time year after year so I'm looking early!!! Janet I've sent you a message.
I know it's individual preferernce but it's so damn hard to find a good one!!!

Yeah tried my hunt no luck ever!!! Maybe too fussy! Maybe a trip to Ireland is in order!

Hunt horse to me means for hunt staff too. Assume you mean a hunter. JGs horse will be superb......I know without even looking.

Your cheque's in the post! Seriously - I have one hunt horse who carried the huntsman which DOESN'T mean he'll be good in the field. I DO have one whose been out TWICE - and behaved the 2nd time. The rest are babies! GOOD hunters - for followers - can be hard to find!

I agree good hunters for followers are not easy to find, and it depends on the country too. Round here a horse must be able to jump big ditches or you won't get anywhere.

Who do you hunt with? How do you hunt ie front of the field, middle, back?
What country do you cross?
What type are you looking for? TB, ISH, ID?
Height, age, up to what sort of weight?
We have a couple of fabulous made hunters - but they're only fabulous if you've got the right country!
Ex-hunt horses tend to be nightmares in the field - they're so used to being up with hounds or out by themselves.
I can recommend some excellent hunter dealers - but you might need some deep pockets for a couple of them lol!

I know of a lovely six year old who I think has hunted two seasons. She is up for sale from a lovely lady in Cambridgeshire who has lovely well rounded and well behaved horses! Don't know whereabouts you are looking but I would be happy to give you her details
