We are moving house soon and will be getting another one. Ours died on Remembrance Day. All are dogs we have had have are rescue dogs, but there are hardly any jack Russels in rescue centres. So me might we not find any, if we can't we are going to get a puppy. I have had a look on the kennel club web site for local breeders, but there are none in the northeast where we live. They have got some on gumtree, but some people say you should'nt get one for there as you don't know where they are from. Any advice would be great fully be received.

If it's not a Parsons JRT you are looking for, the KC won't help as they are not a KC recognised breed.
There are loads in rescue where I am, must be a regional thing.

Have you checked out Adopt a Dog North East?

You could also try a council pound.

They are as of 2016 CC, though they don't look much like the JRTs I grew up with, they're some sort of newfangled Australian import.

Seconding the council pound recommendation as you're an experienced terrier owner, one of my colleagues has just adopted a lovely young bitch and there's a couple more of a similar type still there, they pop up quite frequently here.

Fab , thanks for all your replies. There was nothing on the link you posted, I will a eye on it nearer the time and see if any thing else comes up. I ŵill go and visit the pound is and see what they have in.

Just asked oh he says it's about an hour away so says it's doable. The problem is we don't know how far they are willing to do home checks.

have you looked at Jack Russell Rescue - they rehome nationally?

My brother did buy a JR from gumtree from a Chinese family. He was doubly told off by me as knows my feelings about rescue and gumtree AND he didn't buy the bitch.

Anyway, what do I know. Apart from a few teething issues as the dog didn't understand English at first, he has turned into Mr Perfect. Even has his own passport and goes to their holiday home in Spain with them. Never met such a sweet JR ever before. !

I had my first JRT from preloved , free to any home. He was 6 months old. I picked him up took her home and he is a complete precious little baby. We adore him. He is now almost 4.

Plenty of JRT/crosses down south. Most of the sites let you filter out the (sad majority of) dogs by size and once you're no longer wading through all the staffie-x pictures there were I'd have said a majority of JRTs around last summer. Good luck
