Buying a Lipizzaner or Andulucian abroad?

Has anyone every purchased a Lipizzaner or an Andalucian direct from stud abroad? Any information or views greatly appreciated?

It's best to have insider info or do your homsework thoroughly and use someone who speaks the language well to help. PREs and lippis are quite different sorts so I'd define what exactly you want first and then set out to get the best breeding for that you can

I don't know about Lippi's but there are several breeders of Andalusians in the UK. If you don't know what you are doing in Spain it is very easy to get ripped off, check out http://www.bapsh.co.uk/indexpage.htm

I have bought two lovely PREs from a trainer in Spain - one with unknown background and the other from El Ancla stud. PM me if you want to know more, the trainer is excellent and has lovely horses but doesn't work with any of the UK agents.

At the moment I am looking more towards a Lipizzaner as I have far more knowledge of this breed. I have made enquiries at Piber but it would be so helpfull if I could talk to someone that has been there / done it - so to speak.
