Hiya my family are thinking of buying a polo pony mare. She ticks all the boxes for us but the big scar on her back leg. It is not near the back were her tendons are but at the front of the back leg. She has played high goal polo an has since she had the scar so she is sound on it an after being ridden was still sound an seemed to not affect her. It does have soft tissue around the scarring though. We know she will not pass a vetting because of it. We are getting the vet out to look and advise us on the long term if there are any affects. Also we are buying of a friend so she has been honest with us.

Has anyone had any experience with things like this?
She will be used for just some hacking a little of very small jumping/fun shows an just to have fun on so nothing crazy or huge showjumping.

Thanks :)

If it's not going to cause any problems for anything that you want to do - it wouldn't put me off as it seems to be cosmetic only. :)

How do you know the pony will not pass a vetting?
Scarring is neither here nor there to deciding whether a horse is fit for the job at hand, which is what the vet is looking at

If its no where near the tendons or joints, a bit scar wouldn't bother me in the slightest on the legs as the front is pretty much just skin and aesthetic
