I am going to look at trailers soon. I want a new one so I will go to a dealer but I wondered if you could ask them for a discount or if they would just laugh? If you can ask for a discount what would you say? I have never bought one before so any advice would be welcome please.

Thank you both. I guess I might have more success in getting a wheel clamp thrown in as it won't cost them the full £60/70. I hate haggling so I will probably get OH to do it!

Yes, absolutely. It is recommended whenever you buy new from any shop/dealer you haggle to get extras thrown in for free. You can also shop around and get dealers to price match with a slight extra to gain your custom.
I hasten to add I can't do thisd!!

when i bought my ifor 510 classic. i googled for authorised dealers, then armed with all the prices i went to my local dealer who did a price match. i saved about £400 so was able to buy tack pack, and loads of extras for inside. beware as they add vat on new ones

Most people around here get their IW trailers from a dealer about 75 miles away cos he will do a deal whereas the local guy won't. Having said that, I do know that the local guy is very good with the after sales service, so perhaps you get what you pay for.

when i tried to buy 1 a couple of years bak (gave up, now have a box!

lol) the manufactureer had exactly what we wanted and when we said we wanted to buy it he kept adding extras on like sliding windows were another £200 and padding in side would be another £250 and it went on and on. we basically told him theres no way were paying for the extra stuff and told him to throw it in or we wouldnt buy, of course they caved. you have to b quite tuff with them

I always ask for a discount on anything I buy which is over £300! I usually offer about 30% below the purchase price depending on what it is and usually get it for about 10-20% below the purchase price.

You can also ask for a discount if you pay buy cash!

Another thing that I sometimes do is ask for an ex-demo item. I got my round pen like that - they were £1,200 new but I got am ex-demo one for £900!
