Hi guys I have seen a Welsh Sec A i am interested in having a look at, but there is not a price, it just says open to offers, he is a 2 year old gelding, thats been handled, been wormed and vaccinated. Does look a lovely little chap but really dont know what to offer for him, dont want to go to high or offend by not offering much. Could someone please tell me what sort of price range unborken Section A's are going for please.

Many thanks :)

Well if its any help my sister just sold her 4yr old registered sec A gelding with all his tack & rugs for £350 & he was as safe as houses & brilliant with little kids. I would say given the current climate etc no more than £150 but if you really like him then maybe stretch it a little but further.
If i were you id ask them if theyve a figure they have in mind though, saves wasting your time if they do want silly money.

I agree....

I'd email saying you are interested but do not want to offend with an offer, so if they can give you a price, you can go from there. If theyre open to offers and say £200 they may take 150-175 etc. Bit like market haggling!

Personally i would not pay more than £150.

I paid 300 for my NF mare, at 5 years old, unbroken with good breeding.

The pony could be worth anything from about £50 (what a bog standard 2yr old A would probably make at a sale) to about £2,000.00+ if top class show prospect!

Assuming it's a bog standard A (don't mean that to be insulting in anyway BTW!) I would also say about £150 - £200, sad as the pony will have cost far more than that to breed, microchip, Passport and castrate but sadly it's just the way things are at the moment :(

If you go to LLanybydder sales in the autumn you can get 6 for £10.

Actually no you cant, not at the moment, maybe as you say in the Autumn, i was there last Thursday & the cheapest one was £5 on his own (& that was a yearling colt). Its quite silly to compare the prices that are fetched at marked for some scraggy little thing thats had little or no handling to a 2yr old gelding thats been well handled & upto date with all its vaccinations etc.
