Don't know if anyone can help but buying first horsebox, picking up today. Bit worried about the V5 document. The horsebox has been converted from a milkfloat (not one of those electric ones a proper van type!) and the seller has never changed the V5 doc to 'horsebox'. He says I just need to fill in section 7 when I send it off to change the body type to horsebox. I have phoned DVLA to check this and they said just fill in and send back but then I've had someone else tell me it may not be that straightforward. Very confused and about to part with my money. Also, when I phoned to get insurance they asked if it was a professional conversion. I was really honest and said I don't know who did the conversion as its an L reg box and the seller I'm buying from didn't convert it. They have know said they won't insure without an engineers report. I though the hard part was finding the right box at the right price but this is getting very complicated. Any advice really appreciated.

i have had V5's that do not show the right colour as they have had a paint job and have never had a problem. if you have checked with DVLA and they are happy then i can't see a problem. i have never been asked by an insurance company if it was a professional conversion. i insure through anthony evans and they are very good. you just tell them the value and annual mileage. and thats it.
by the way i have only ever had one lorry that started out life as a horsebox.

same as me mine says its white still (thats reminded me to send it off) and i have never ben asked most start as a van of sort. Ring your local DVLA to check if your worried but I wouldnt be
