Hi i was wondering if anyone has bought a horse from Ireland ? i have seen a couple i like and wondered how it worked did you go and see the horse first? what about payment i would be worried if i purchased a horse handing over money then the horse not turning up! what about transport to Uk i have heard some not so nice storys about transporters :(

Any advice would be great :)

I have bought quite a few this way - either via an Irish dealer that is reliable or else by having someone I know source them in Ireland. None have I actually seen (except photos, video) beforehand. I know this would freak some people out, but it works for me. Depends on you and dealer or agent having a good understanding of your requirement. Good luck! PM me if you want names, etc

Hi, I'm Irish (despite user name), in Ireland and can reasure you that buying horses here is, if anything, more reliable than it seems to be in the UK. We are a nation of sellers, there are several very good, professional sales (Goresbridge, Cavan Intl., etc.), and lots of reputable dealers. You just need to find the right contacts and they will be happy to look for you, and/or arrange a trip to view or attend sales.

Cheap ponies! Buy something that's done three seasons hunting for a few hundred! Not expensive to import either, think you be looking 300-400 tops to import. You can get some sexy horses over there :-)
