Just asking i have been told all the best horses ID come from ireland and wondered how much on average in a horse sale does a irish draught cost 2-5 yrs and how much to bring it back over to yorkshire thanks
i got my first horse as a 5 year old from ireland only cost me 200 to transport him over and 3600 to buy him from a dealer but he was an ish and had impeccable breeding
however the horse i have just now taz was imported as a two year old and i got sold him as a five year old but he was only three i never got him vetted paid 3200 for him 2 years ago he's a full ID even as youngsters they dont come too cheap if they are papered
Right now you can pick them up here for peanuts, papered, well bred, whatever
Come to Cavan sales next week, I'm sure you'll find something. Probably cost you £200-300 to get it back across the water.
I bought 2 RID foals last autumn, 3rd and 10th in the national foal championships, and I paid less for them than it cost the breeder to get them on the ground
makes you wonder if people will bother breeding good quality stock if that happens.
We bought from Ireland last year, it was a private sale, but only paid £700 ish for a 3 yr old, 15hh Irish sport X connie - can imagine he probably would have been well over double that if we'd bought similar from the UK.
Cost about £200 to get him transported, but did have to wait a few weeks. They fill up a huge horsebox which is why it's so cheap!
