Has anyone gone through this process of buying horses in Spain??

Did you use an agent?

Did the horse settle well - the climate alone must be a dramatic change!!

The tack used especially on horses trained Doma Vequera looks very different - how easy was it to shift to "English" tack??

I love the look of the Hispano Arabe but they seem rare.

Interested in peoples experiences not looking for dealer/agent recommendations!!!!

Was transport/paperwork etc an issue???

Cheers!!

i shoe a fair few from southern portugal that have gone to the uk , nobody has had problems . the paperwork /veterinary protocols are easy and doesnt take to long .

Having ridden a few in Spain, and seen some over here in the past, I'd second that!

I used to know of 2 people in the UK who bred them, but having looked recently I can't find any details now. I was actually thinking (in a daydream, winning lottery sort of way!) about the possibility of getting an Arab broodmare and breeding my own. Unfortunately the lottery win would have to come first!!!

I brought a horse from southern Spain using Parkers and for me it was easy.

Paperwork at the other end was dealt with locally by the owners, vet certificates and so forth, Parkers will advise as they do the trip frequently. All I had to do was write the cheque and apply for a passport at this end. Mine was 2 and only had '..sanitaire ..' documentation because he wasn't PRE.

You'll find other posts from me on HHO telling how he travelled and settled.

There were no real problems.
