looking for any recommendations for an agent in Denmark to view a horse and arrange vetting If anyone has any contacts would appreciate it. Have the horse picked out and transport arranged.
would also appreciate any advice on “traditions” on buying in Denmark, is there a contract, what is the situation with issues etc.

Danish lawyer here.
I don’t have any information regarding an agent to act on your behalf, it’s not very normal here, but I imagine you could contact a pro that often exports horses and have them help you. What type of horse is it and where is it located? I might be able to help with some relevant names you can try to contact.

You will normally always have a contract drafted that is to both the sellers and your liking. Danish Warmblood has had a general one made that’s available on their website for free and I think it’s translated too, so I’d probably opt for that one. It covers all relevant matters.

Vetting will normally consist of a flexion test and a clinical exam. X-ray and having blod drawn and frozen is additional to this, but I imagine you’d want to have that done too when buying from abroad? The vet normally doesn’t see the horse ridden.

Are you buying from a private person or a seller/professional rider/breeder? In the first case you can agree that you have no right of complaint (but you will still be able to raise a complaint if the seller has knowingly withheld important information from you, as that is considered fraudulous). If you make no such agreement you have 2 years right of complaint. If the seller is a professional seller/rider/breeder you are protected by consumer rights.

I think that just about covers it? Otherwise feel free to ask away!
