Provided the price was right, would you buy a parcel of land (with stables, albeit, crappy ones) just over a mile from your own home? Or, would you hold out til something within price range came up i.e. house and land?
Has anyone bought land away from their actual house and did you regret it?
Thankies

depends on your budget, do you like your house and would like to stay in it? is the land a good price so you could sell on later if you found house and land, is there a house near that may come up for sale to buy in the future ? I would prefer a house and land together but if this would suit you why not...

we bought a field and moved ours last weekend, the field is exactly 1 mile from my house, so far am loving it, absolutely no regrets!

obviously the dream would be to have both house and land together, but that is such a rare and expensive thing in the area I live in, I cant imagine ever being able to even consider it, I feel lucky to have what Ive got

That's the thing, love our house but would no way be able to afford something like it, with land, so we'd have to downgrade on the house.
Don't you worry about security, etc when the land is separate from house? This parcel is effectively in the middle of nowhere. Also, it doesn't have water/elec - I haven't looked into costs for connection, etc as it's only just come up, has anyone got any ballpark figures or does it depend entirely where the mains are. It's down a 150m track from the road and has elec running to the yard next door.

we bought land and buildings 6 miles from where we lived, spent 8 yrs comuting,no fun when it is a farm esp lambing times then built house on place with ag tie, so have 21acres with range of old stone barns and a modern barn and house and further 55acres just up the lane, so can be done.

Water is fairly cheap if there is a main near by £100s, electric can be horendous depends again on a suitable supply near by, but if it has to come even a short distance quite pricey 1000s, yes security would be my main concern depends on the area..
