Buying off Ebay

Having not bought much off ebay i am a little cautious, have showed interest in a ifor williams trailer and have got in contact with the seller as they have a buy it now price which is really good, have received lots of pictures of said trailer and it seems quite a bargain, plus they will deliver it if i pay the full price., now how safe is it, have i got come back if they take my money and no trailer arrives etc., sorry for all the numpty questions but if its safe they i will buy but just so cautious about being scammed. Any info etc would be greatly appreciated.

Also can you go to view the trailer before buying it? I would be wary of buying something such as a trailer, without viewing it in person first to see how safe and what sort of condition it is in.
 
I've used eBay for years now and Ive never had any problems because I've always paid with Paypal. If you don't receive something the seller has a 10 days (I think!) to send you a replacement or a refund, depending on which you specify.

Depending on what you're buying make sure you check the seller's rating in percentages and if it's a bulky item (saddle, horsebox etc) then make sure you go and look at the item in person or get the seller to send a photo with their ebay username next to it just to make sure the photo hasn't been taken off of the internet.

eBay really is safer than a lot of people think, just be sensible about it and you'll be fine :-)
 
I buy/sell on ebay all the time with no problems, as others have said paypal/ebay has you pretty covered. However I wouldn't buy a car/trailer etc off ebay without going to see it. How do you know the floor is safe etc etc?
 
I am happy to buy off ebay. But i wouldnt buy a trailer by paying for it even by paypal (and i guess they wont accept paypal due to the fees of such an expensive item).

The only way is for you to go and check it over - in the light so you can see all the floor etc, and then pay cash. You then know exactly what you are buying.
 
I bought a trailer off ebay and the seller drove it over half way (5 hr trip). I bought it on the understanding that my mechanic brother would be checking it over before I took it. I paid by paypal.

Went smoothly.

pay a deposit through paypal and pay the remaining balance in cash when you get the trailer
