I’m so fed up of looking for a decent lorry.

I read adverts & I wonder if they really want to sell as even the basics are missing off the description & the quality of photos are awful!

There is seldom any mention of the unladen weight, mileage, any service history, year of build etc. What is in many adverts is totally irrelevant as well. Some ‘descriptions’ consist of a line & a half & what can you say in that?

I really think that when people moan about being unable to sell their lorry that they should take a good look at the description & photos & I’m sure they would then see the reason why no one has contacted them. Additionally some of the amounts wanted for some really poorly built & maintained pieces of junk are ridiculous. I found two identical lorrys, both in good condition, similar mileage etc..... £8000 difference in the prices....how does that work?

Moan over, I’ll find one some day…….. but at the moment I’m almost losing the will to live

Yep know that feeling - i've been looking for over 9 months now, and I have only found one suitable at a decent price, and that sold in one day!

I think a lot of lorries are not selling, as the prices are just plain daft.

I know what you mean, I have just bought my first lorry, had a look at a couple, others were just so far away and ended up getting one built instead for almost the same price. Yes its basic but thats all I wanted.
Depending on your budget, you may be suprised if you contact one of the companies at what they can actually do for you. I never imagined getting one so young and unused for my budget.

I wish someone would come and buy ours !! , it's old but sound and reliable and it's just sitting around being wasted , we have moved down to a 3.5 tonne so my daughter (who's just passed her test) can use it , if anyone wants to have a look its on Ebay Classified http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?V...me=STRK:MESE:IT

I know what you mean! We are looking for a 3 horses NON hgv or a 4 horse plus HGV, we have a fairly good budget ( up to £30k) but when you read the description it turns out to be nothing like!
We went all the way to Somerset last week to see a lorry described as having an 'oak lined living'- what they meant to say was 'brown painted plywood!!' They had also painted the light switch and mirror! The cupboards didn't line up and it was black with damp under the living seats- oh and to top it all they omitted to tell us about the bl**dy great dent in the side! All for £25k- bargain- NOT!

Your not alone, we have tried to find a lorry to replace my old Bedford TK, and those that are "In Good Condition" are not a patch on my lorry, and yes the mileage would be really helpful in the advert........... Oh well I'm sure there is a lorry out there with your name on it, so hopefully you will find it soon rather than later. Good Luck...

One will pop up on you very quickly!!!

I spent ages looking for mine. Spent days literally driving round the country with a friend who is a mechanic. None of the lorries were suitable. Every one of them had some sort of issue!

We ended up buying one that came to our yard for a competition.

Good luck!!

We get so near to selling it then people always seem to find one nearer to where they live

I Almost bought one about 6 weeks ago, went so far as to take a bankers cheque and everything. the lorry was lovely, it was 6.5 tonnes which bothered me a litle but it could be uprated- a bit overpriced tbh. anyway, reason i didnt buy it was because the seller was SO Bl00dy rude, we took a mechanic (armed with cheque) all was ok, stood there talking over with friend...seller wouldnt leave us be... then had the cheek to say 'well im not going to stand here all day love' we hadnt been 5 min since the mechanic left, 2 min later after awkward covo between my friend and i whilst being listened in on, 'well im going to need a decision'... it is alot of money for me and i wasnt going to give it to somone who was plain rude. it wasnt just that but her general attitude.

So the reason that her lorry isnt selling (she has just re-advertised) is prob because she doesnt know how to sell and is generally not very polite to prospective buyers.

The reason i am still looking is because there is alot of overpriced junk out there, and there are sellers like the above.

Edited as realised i was advertising!

Why would you want to uprate a 6.5T lorry? The beauty of a 6.5T lorry is the huge payload.
My 6.5T lorry has a 3 ton payload, you won't find many 7.5T with that payload.

It didnt have a huge payload! it was a 7.5 tonne lorry that had been downrated so as to keep the tax costs down when it was a commercial vehicle. It looked like a 'normal' lorry with a cab, rather than a smaller van type one with a 'nose' if you see what i mean. It had a payload of 1.6 tonnes i think, anyway, it wasnt enough for 2 large horses plus tack, water etc etc.
