My gf's pony Buzz who most of you know crashed head first into the pen's fence today, we think he was attempting to jump out, so so after some major sedation, 40 stitches and loads of pain killers he is tucked up in bed tonight,

Buzz is dun roan, his face goes darker in winter, always has, i'll pm you Kay's facebook if you want so you can see the winter pics of him before this?

nope i apologies i have just looked at some other photos of him and it is him, sorry. i will admit i am skeptical of any posts about buzz du to the past history.

i hope he makes a speedy recovery as it looks very sore for him

Sorry to hear about this. At least he's eating though! If it's any consolation my mare has had several facial operations this year which involved lots of bone movement, so she looked worse than this and they really do heal well. Just bits of white hair where some of the stitches were. Good luck to him.

Too-Many-Nags he was turned loose in the lunge pen as he causes problems in the field when its muddy, he has been out their many many times and never been any trouble, he was quiet and munching away on some hay whilst GF went to muck out, we think he tried to jump out but ave no idea what set him off, he was also in sight of both horses and other people on the yard.
He wasn't keen on the anti biotics so we grated some carrots and put some polo's in to tempt him and he munched the lot, a lovely lady on my yard suggested putting a couple of drops of peppermint essence into it to tempt him.

You will be amazed at how quickly it will heal. A horse on our yard gashed his face open on a bolt that was holding his hay bar in place and within a week or so was absolutely right as rain. The vet who stitched him said, of all the places to be cut, the face is one of the best - heals really quickly and can be kept clean very easily.
Hope Buzz heals up soon!

Obviously buzzby will be out of action for a while, would you suggest taking his shoes off? He is due for shoeing this week but Kay would rather he wasn't tied up for a long period of time with his stitches in, she's happy to hold him to have them off but after a week of not doing much he is likely to be difficult once bored!! Any thoughts??

Aww poor Buzz bet he feels like my mare! She had part of her faced stapled back on today! Bloomin horses eh? Heres to a speedy recovery for both of them xx
