Just spoken to Kay, Buzz is doing very well and healing nicely, he has been lead out sun, mon and today and is so far behaving himself, the vet does not think he will scar and is very happy with how its all going, he has tried to itch his face a few times but stops when told, does anyone know of anything that she can give him to help soothe the itches?? I will post add a picture later when I have been to see him :D

I would ask the vet before you put anything on or near his wounds as they looked quite horrific I would be concerned that it could hinder the healing process or sting. Vibes he heals quickly!

She was more thinking of feeding something to help the skin close and stop the itching?? coconut oil has been recommended once the stitches are out, until then she is hoping she can stop him itching in case he pulls any out.

No matter what went on here before with the whole DR saga Buzz remained my fave pony on here!

Glad to here that he is doing well. Not sure about the itching as sadly its part and parcel of the healing process so although uncomfortable for him its a good sign.

Give him a hug from me please!

I will do WoopsiiD, he is being spoilt rotten by everyone, Kay had a couple of bad nights but is doing ok now too I don't think she could bare to be without him, he is a lovely little chap and such a pleasure to be around.

One of mine was hit by a car many years ago, opening up her chest to a degree that she needed 180 stitches. That was well before Manuka honey became popular as awound care treatment, but my mum is a Kiwi, and had always used it - we painted it on with a soft paint brush, and she healed incredibly well, with only a couple of tiny bits of infection - which we pretty much expected in a wound that huge. Once the wound was closed and the inflamation had died down, we used baby oil on it, and a few months down the line, once it was just a scar, we used cornuscrescine to encourage hair regrowth. She healed very fast, didn't really get itchy, and the scar was very minimal considering the size of the original wound.
